How To: Fishtail Braid

I love braids.

Especially right now since I’m taking a break from heating tools. I also heard a myth that braiding your hair helps it grow, therefore another reason to love braids, besides the fact that they are so effortlessly beautiful!

The braid that I’ve been loving right now is the fishtail braid. It took me a while to actually learn how to master the fishtail braid and now I just can’t get enough go it. Since it’s a little more elaborate than a regular braid, I feel as though you can dress this braid up for special events, which is actually what I did for New Year’s Eve. I dressed it up by adding a gold headband and I loved it!

I like to wear my fishtail braid on the side, particularly my left side for a more flirty look. But, you can wear the fishtail braid anyway you like. Since there is a lot going on in my hair, I like to keep my makeup natural, pink blush, neutral eyeshadow and pink mauve lips is what I mainly wear while rocking a fishtail braid.

Below are steps on how to achieve the perfect fishtail braid. I’ve also linked two Youtube video tutorials (one in English, and one in Spanish) which I feel show how to fishtail braid the best!

1.Divide your hair into 2 sections.

2.Take a thin (The thinner the piece, the prettier the braid)  piece from underneath one of the right section and pull it over the left section. Blend it with the opposite section.

3. Repeat the same process with the other side. Take a thin piece from underneath the left section and pull it over the right section.

4. Repeat this process, until you near your ends and secure with an elastic, and voila a beautiful fishtail braid!

Happy Braiding!
